Leeroy Thornhill: From The Prodigy to Solo Artist and Producer

Leeroy Thornhill is a founding member of The Prodigy, spending a decade touring the world and helping define the band’s explosive live performances.

Solo Career and Flightcrank

In 2001, Leeroy left The Prodigy to focus on his solo work, launching the project Flightcrank. The debut album featured remixes by Maxim, Adamski, Lee Scratch Perry, Mad Professor, and Genaside 2, marking his evolution from dancer to full-fledged producer and vocalist.

HYPER: Collaboration with DJ Hyper

Leeroy teamed up with DJ Hyper to form the band HYPER, releasing the critically acclaimed albums We Control and Suicide Monday, both featuring Leeroy on vocals. These albums blended breakbeat, rock, and electronic sounds into a bold, genre-crossing style.

Smash HiFi: Multi-Genre Innovation

In 2016, Leeroy partnered with Marten Hörger to create Smash HiFi, a multi-genre project. The debut album Order More Disorder featured artists like Kym Mazelle, Lexie Lee, Ka, MC Sirreal, and The Legionnaires. Tracks from the album appeared in a KIA commercial, and the band performed at major festivals, including Glastonbury.

Remixes and Production Work

Leeroy has remixed a wide range of artists, including The Ting Tings, Darren Emerson, David Gray, Dr. Doom (Kool Keith), Maxim, and Dub Pistols. His remix style fuses gritty basslines with funk, electro, and old-school breaks.

Solo Releases on Get Hype Recordings

His solo releases on Get Hype Recordings, including Wait For Me (which reached #3 on Beatport), showcase his continued relevance and creative energy. Remixes by The Prototypes, Adamski, and Smooth added extra impact to the tracks.
