Jody Bernal: From Dutch Chart-Topper to House Music DJ
Jody Bernal was born on November 12, 1981, in Bogotá, Colombia, and was adopted by a Dutch family at just three months old. He grew up in Delft, where his musical journey began.
At age 18, Jody scored a massive number-one hit with “Que Si, Que No”, a remake of an Argentinian summer song. The single stayed at the top of the Dutch charts for 15 consecutive weeks, becoming the longest-running number-one single in Dutch music history.
Follow-up tracks like “Oh Bambolero”, “Un Beso Mas”, “Me and You”, “Dreams”, and “Chica Bonita” earned him multiple awards and gold records. His early success made him a household name and a familiar figure in the Dutch media.
As his passion for house music grew, Jody began producing his own tracks, teaching himself through discipline and persistence. He became a prominent presence in Amsterdam’s club scene, starting as a resident DJ at the iconic Club NYX.
Jody’s DJ sets, blending house, disco, and all-time hits, quickly gained popularity with promoters across the Netherlands. His performances are celebrated for their energy, versatility, and strong crowd connection.
He has performed at major festivals such as Valtifest, Solar Festival, Freshtival, Wish Outdoor, and Amsterdams Verbond. Jody also launched his own club concept, ‘Sjiek de Friemel’, now a hit in three Dutch cities.
Shedding his “child pop star” image, Jody has become a cult DJ personality in the vibrant Dutch nightlife. And when the moment is right, he still performs “Que Si, Que No” live — a proud nod to his roots.
